Art
Journaling has been my focus all summer, and this time I’ve included
sun and moon designs from friends Linda Lewis and Samantha Thomas.
It’s fun to use
other peoples’ art as a jumping off place. Linda’s metal sun was hung
on a large tree. You can see the trunk.
I extended the sun rays using the dark greenery of the tree.
Linda’s
husband appears in the corresponding rays on the second sun.
Fun.
Samantha’s moon design was so charming. . .
I probably just put back what
she had cropped,
but I added some glass beads ornamentation and a
bubbly background.
My new favorite art supply is tissue paper. It glazes like watercolor
when you layer it. Some of the cheap patterned tissue paper works well
for background or adding texture over top.
I squeeze Acrylic Glazing
Liquid on the back of the tissue, place it, then gently work it to the
edges. The excess is spread over the remainder of the design.
Even though it makes photography trickier, I love the look
and feel of gloss. Right now I’m using Mod Podge.
It takes some time to
completely dry, so I even cut out little kitchen
parchment paper protective sleeves to keep the pages from sticking.
I'm getting a little carried away now:
I’m color-coding the paper clips to match the art. Who cares?
