Melissastudio – Art
Lesson #2
Art
Journaling – Are we
having Fun Yet?
Maybe
you’ve discovered
you’re not yet the world’s best drawer and have thought about becoming
discouraged. Don’t do it! Your skills will grow as you keep at it AND
there are fun projects to do that will look good and not require huge
drawing skills. For example:
Borders
– Easy! It’s
glorified doodling (this phrase will keep appearing) with your new
watercolor pencils or crayons. You can either leave the space blank, or
fill it with either a computer generated or hand written quote.
Lists
with Flair: If
you’re like me, your lists have lists. Since
artists are notoriously unorganized, we do what we can. Why not be
creative with your lists? It takes a little longer, yes, but you’re
building your art skills (and new friends at whatever store you’re
visiting, if they see your list.) Here is my Art Assignment List,
straight from the journal. |

Playing
with Shapes:
Another class assignment made in the Art Journal – assignment as
practice art! Check it out: |

Variations on the Shape Motif: Take an odd number of elements from
your shape drawing and just play! Doodle these as quickly as they come
into your head. You can always refine them later on another page (or
they might be the beginning of a real painting). Make a grid with your
motif being moved and stretched and repeated. Then color with a limited
number of colors. Like this: |
