WELCOME BACK TO MELISSA'S STUDIO
The very first signs of Spring are beginning to show around the Studio.  The perfectly-formed new Sedum domes are emerging and the Daffys are four inches tall already.  Art Cat and I are anxious for Spring.

Winter is a great time to work on Art Journals and Altered Books.  My student Guest Artist this month is Barbara Tuttle, who has an amazing range of talents including innovative drawings, varied calligraphic styles, origami, quilting and electrical engineering! Note the beauty she finds in Geometry.

Also highlighting her analytical style, check out this combined art and math assignment for kids. This clever and beautiful design teaches them fractions.

Barbara's charming drawings are whimsical and fun:

As a result of her quilting skills she creates landscapes and collages with fabric.

Out of all these amazing talents,
I think my favorites of this group are the art as lettering.
Check out this lovely work.

And her ability to take a
simple motif and spin it
into many items is a great
design test and
brain tease for any kid
or artist.

Then she takes it another step, taking ordinary items out of magazine photos and turning them into something else. This is a great way to stretch your creative side.

Her other paper work
includes collage,
creative cutting and origami.

Thank you Barbara for sharing your talents, your knowledge and your enthusiasm with our class.

See you soon, keep in touch on the Guestbook and
KEEP CREATING!
